From Hero to Pariah
Congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham walked into San Diego’s Federal Courthouse March 3, 2006. Cunningham was found guilty of taking $2.4 million in bribes from military contractors in return for smoothing the way for government contracts and was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison. The flamboyant ace fighter pilot entered Congress as a hero in 1991 and left in 2005 as a disgraced felon.
